¨I have dedicated my life in pursuit of recreating the perfect imperfections of nature¨.
John Domane Carlson

Mother Earth, through her use of wind, water, heat, cold, and powerful geological upheavals, provides a multitude of forms and color pallets that have inspired artists the world over. To this end, I have dedicated my life in pursuit of recreating the perfect imperfections of nature.

My experience in sculpting faux rock began in September of 1986 creating artificial habitats for Zoos and Aquariums. I continually strive for the higher degree of detail in emulating the beautiful and sometimes bizarre facets of nature. To study nature is to view a world of art continually in progress.

Our goals are to re-create a natural realistic environment. If it's Creating an indigenous habitat for any species of animal in a Zoo exhibit and Aquariums. Or incorporating natural rock formations and Trees for a home or commercial facility, thus creating a more beautiful and tranquil existence.
Our experience

Much of our experience lends itself towards commercial ventures through zoos, aquariums and community structures. Our work can be featured in both interior and exterior settings, adding warmth and bringing another dimension to commercial architecture as well as realistic habitats for any animal species.

Some projects around the word. In Tokyo Bay Aquarium Tokyo-Japan, Florida Sea World, Orlando -Florida. Sea World San Antonio Texas, Aquario de Genoa Genoa-Italy. Oceanario De Lisboa-Expo´89 Lisboa-Portugal Shedd Aquarium, Los Angeles Children´s Zoo Denver Zoo Denver-Colorado, Phoenix Zoo Phoenix Arizona, Zoologico De Chapultapec Mexico City-Mexico, Ukumari Zoo Pereira Colombia, Roper Mountain Science Center South Carolina, Zoologico De Fuengirola Malaga Spain, Bio Parque Valencia Spain, Sharjah Al Dhaid park, UAE.

  • Creating habitats around the world

When working on a Zoo exhibit or Commercial Aquarium, we realize the importance of researching the given habitat to aid us in recreating that particular environment. But within that environment, we are also aware that with fabricated environments, dangers may exist that animals in captivity are more susceptible to than animals that live in the wild. This is why we work closely with curators, architects and animal husbandry specialists to create a habitat that mimics nature and at the same time, provides a safe home for animals in captivity.

We have created habitats for many regions, including the Temperate Coastal regions of California and Oregon, to Coral Reefs of the Caribbean Red Sea and Indo –Pacific. Our habitats are home for many zoo and aquarium animals. We have built Touch pools, Rainforest exhibits, African Savannas and ‑flooding streams.
